Eighth Anniversary Party

It’s hard to believe this marks our eighth year. These anniversary posts have become a really useful way to document what actually happened during the year - the work, the people, and the projects that shaped it and to see how far we’ve come.

2025 saw many ideas we piloted in 2024 come fully into practice. Much of what we worked on built directly on programs that had been developing for several years and moved them forward in tangible ways.

A Year of Craft, Community, and Connection

The year began with CiderCon in Chicago, where we spent time with cider friends, shared bottles, and took part in ongoing conversations about cider - how it’s made, how it’s presented, and where it’s headed - through Talia’s role on the American Cider Association board.

Summer brought another Haykin Summer Club Celebration, which has become a yearly marker for us - new releases, warmer weather, and time spent together with our club members.

We also collaborated beyond our own space, including an event at Traveling Mercies, where they released an amaro made with our apple brandy. The evening paired cider and amaro with their seafood-driven menu and brought our work into a spirits-forward setting.

The tasting room stayed busy throughout the year, hosting a wide range of gatherings - from smaller, focused events to a full slate of holiday parties. We also hosted events with a Women in Manufacturing group and Les Dames d'Escoffier, both of which included Talia speaking about cidermaking and life as a business owner. (She told the story of “David Haykin Family Cider” many, many times - if you haven’t heard it, ask her.)

We also shared more of our perspective on cidery life in a conversation on the new Pommes and Pints podcast.

Recognition That Reflected the Work

In 2025, competition results reflected the steady work happening in the cellar (yes, the industrial condo one).

At the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) in May in Grand Rapids, Haykin was named Small Cidermaker of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Awards across categories included recognition for our ice cider, pommeau, and brandy, reflecting the continued development of those products.

At the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in October, we received a repeat Gold medal for our single-varietal Mountain Rose, for a total of two Golds and two Bronzes, continuing a strong showing for apple-driven, high-quality cider.

Beyond the Cidery

Travel and collaboration were an important part of the year. In France, we spent time with Blair and Marti Richardson at Château La Ramitere, strengthening a working relationship - and friendship - built around a shared love of distinctive apples, well-made cider, and high standards.

In December, we released the cider from their first harvest at Haykin and hosted an event introducing our local community to their château, orchards, and the history and traditions behind them.

We also appreciated thoughtful media coverage throughout the year. In 2025, Haykin Family Cider was featured by Food & Wine, included in Bloomberg Top Shelf, named one of Colorado’s best cider houses by Uncover Colorado, and profiled by wonderful Ruth Tobias in The SOMM Journal.

Life Alongside the Work

Outside the cidery, family life continued at full speed. We now have a fifth grader, a second grader, and a pretty opinionated four-year-old. Our nights are filled with basketball, gymnastics, soccer, video games, book reports, and sleep away summer camp… but apples are still the preferred bedtime snack.

Looking Ahead

Eight years in, the focus remains on doing the work well: sourcing carefully, producing intentionally, and creating a place people enjoy spending time.

Thank you all for being part of it!

Seventh Anniversary Party

Continuing our tradition for a anniversary blog post. So here we are - turning 7. If last year was Kindergarten, this year is first grade and boy are we growing up. Our business has expanded and grown even further. Here’s the traditional rundown -

The biggest news for us this year was the launch of many new products including Pommeau, ice cider, and our non-alcoholic cider. All of which have been incredibly well received and we can’t seem to keep them in stock! :)

We had an incredible pommeau launch event with 30 folks, pairing pommeau, cider, and cheese.

Believe it or not, in the past year, we even further FURTHER expanded our presence in our local markets, our staff, and our clubs continued to grow.

We continue to work with our Michelin and James Beard friends, innovating in conjunction with their teams.

We enjoyed our second annual club member party in the summer. We hope to see more of you this summer!

We participated in amazing paired dinners with restaurant partners - Fruition, Rootstalk, KoKo Ni, and Bronzeville Winery in Chicago.

We won Small Cidermaker of the Year for the THIRD year at GLINTCAP, and were mentioned by both Food & Wine and the Michelin Guide.

Talia won a leadership award from Les Dames d’Escoffier

We hosted a number of corporate and private events.

Plus the kids continued to grow… we have a fourth grader, first grader, and terrific three year old. We even had a science fair project using apples this past year!

And so much more. We are so excited for what the future looks like here at Haykin.

Please join us to celebrate all of this at our Sixth Anniversary Party!

Virtual Cider and Chocolate Tastings

2020 (and now 2021) certainly don’t make having fun easy! So we decided to help with that.

I’ve been dabbling in virtual tastings this past fall and it’s been a lot of fun. Come February, celebrate your bestie or your love with a night of cider and chocolate. We have two virtual tastings on the calendar - February 11th and 13th! Pick the day that works best for you and sign up!

Second Anniversary Party

So, I really didn’t keep up on my blogging this past year for the cidery… but I meant to! In fact, Megan (our tasting room manager) even gave me writing prompts and ideas… but I have just been too busy. Our tiny newborn has grown into a very independent little girl full of her own opinions. Our young son started to ask every night “let’s talk about the cider business.” (No joke… he’s 4.5 and even he knows we have a lot going on!!)

We have met amazing people in our tasting room and at events. We’ve been invited to pour cider in the middle of a farm field, in an abandoned warehouse, next to a ski slope, and in a tiny hotel room with all the legends of our industry. As someone very well-known in our industry said to Dan last year at CiderCon - he really didn’t f*ck up those apples.

We were especially busy over the late spring through summer. Here’s a quick recap (of just the late spring/summer). We:

And that was just the summer! Since then, we partnered with The Buffalo Theory and Via Alba for an awesome dinner IN the cidery (it was incredible), hosted a bunch of private events, study classes, and parties. We did a paired dinner at both Bird and Jim and Mercantile. Plus many more in-store tastings and conversations with lots of you all!

This year, in our tasting room, we sold 3700 bottles of cider (300 more bottle than last year!), 1350 flights, 3600 glasses of cider. And we had 2000 customers come join us in the tasting room (many of you multiple times)! We added 30+ new wholesale accounts around the Denver/Boulder area (plus one in DC!) and DOUBLED our club members.

WHEW! It was a heck of a year. And all thanks to you, our customers. Please join us on Saturday February 1, 2019 from 5-10pm (only) to celebrate. Dan and I are looking forward to it!
